⭐🤠 Texas Star – A Lone Star Welcome to Texas in Orange

Simba and I visited the Texas Travel Information Center in Orange, Texas — home to the striking Texas Star sculpture that greets travelers entering the state along Interstate 10 near the Texas–Louisiana border.

For many road trippers driving west into the Lone Star State, this landmark becomes one of the first memorable photo stops announcing that you’ve officially arrived in Texas.

Standing prominently beside the travel center, the giant Lone Star sculpture reflects the symbol that has come to represent Texas pride, independence, and identity.

🏳️ The Six Flags Over Texas

Next to the star sculpture is a plaza displaying the Six Flags over Texas, representing the six nations that have governed Texas throughout its history.

These flags represent Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the Confederate States of America, and the United States. Together, the flags and the star create a symbolic gateway that highlights the unique and complex history of the state.

The display offers a quick but meaningful reminder of the many cultural and political influences that helped shape Texas.

🌿 A Road Trip Stop with Scenic Views

The Texas Travel Information Center offers more than just a welcome sign.

Inside, visitors can find travel brochures, maps, and helpful information about destinations across the state. Outside, the grounds provide a relaxing place to stretch your legs before continuing your drive.

One of the hidden features of the stop is a short boardwalk trail that overlooks nearby wetlands filled with cypress trees and local wildlife. It’s a quiet nature moment that contrasts nicely with the busy interstate just a short distance away.
