๐ฌ The Peephole Cinema – San Francisco’s Tiny Secret Theatre
Simba ๐พ and I discovered one of San Francisco’s most unexpected artistic gems — the Peephole Cinema, hidden away in the Mission District. Tucked at 280 Orange Alley, this micro-movie theatre lets you watch short silent films looping 24/7 through a tiny dime-sized hole in the wall.
Created by artist Laurie O’Brien in 2013, the Peephole Cinema redefines what a “movie experience” can be. There’s no ticket booth, no seats, and no sound — just a single viewer peering through the small aperture to catch a whimsical or thought-provoking silent film playing inside. It’s simple, surreal, and deeply creative — a perfect example of how art can surprise you in the most unexpected places.
