🌲 John Muir Statue – Lemon Cove, California
Simba 🐾 and I visited the striking John Muir Statue in Lemon Cove, California — a ten-foot-tall redwood carving created in 1989 by artist R.L. Blair to honor the famed naturalist, explorer, and conservation pioneer.
Located just off Highway 198, this rustic roadside tribute stands in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, perfectly situated as a stop for travelers heading toward Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks — two of the protected lands Muir helped inspire through his lifelong advocacy for wilderness preservation.
This towering redwood carving captures both the rugged beauty of the material and the enduring legacy of the man often called the Father of the National Parks.
