๐️ Dad O’Rourke’s Bench – A Mount Tamalpais Classic with Panoramic Coastal Views
Perched high above the Pacific on Mount Tamalpais, the historic Dad O’Rourke’s Bench offers one of the most breathtaking outlooks in all of Marin County. Built in 1927 to honor Richard Festus “Dad” O’Rourke, this stone bench sits right on the ridgeline, where the hills seem to tumble into the ocean. It’s no wonder O’Rourke once called it “the edge of the world.”
I made the short, scenic hike from the Rock Springs parking area, capturing peaceful forest paths, coastal breezes, and the unbeatable views stretching from Stinson Beach to the Bay. It’s a spot that blends California history, natural beauty, and quiet reflection in one unforgettable stop.
