Simba 🐾 and I hit the trail again—this time tackling one of Eugene’s most iconic hikes, the Spencer Butte Trail! Located just south of town, this popular route climbs through lush Douglas fir forest before opening up to breathtaking panoramic views of the Willamette Valley and Cascade Mountains. 🌄

Whether you’re after a scenic workout or just want to soak in some Oregon beauty, this trail has it all.

The Spencer Butte Trail is a true Eugene favorite. The steady climb winds through cool, shaded forest before leading you to a rocky summit that rewards every step with 360° views. On a clear day, you can even spot the Three Sisters in the distance!

It’s a perfect blend of exercise and serenity, with plenty of spots to pause, breathe, and take in the scenery.

This trail is dog-friendly, and Simba absolutely loved the adventure! Between the forest scents, gentle switchbacks, and summit breezes, it’s an ideal hike for pups that enjoy the outdoors (just remember to bring water and keep your dog leashed on busier days).
