Castle Trail to Meadow Trail Loop 🏞️ Mount Falcon Park Adventure

Simba and I laced up for a hike at Mount Falcon Park in Indian Hills, Colorado, taking on the Castle Trail to Meadow Trail Loop. This 7-mile round-trip adventure delivered everything we could want in a Colorado hike: forested paths, wide-open meadows, breathtaking mountain views, and even a dose of local history.

🌲 Hiking Through Forest & Meadows

The trail begins with shaded forest sections that quickly open into expansive meadows framed by the Rockies. Walking through this variety of terrain kept the hike fresh and exciting. Simba trotted happily along, soaking in the fresh mountain air (and all the new scents 🐾).

🏰 History Along the Trail

One of the unique highlights of Mount Falcon Park is the historic ruins scattered along the path. From the remnants of John Brisben Walker’s grand home to the unfinished “castle” project intended for U.S. presidents, the hike isn’t just about nature—it’s also a journey into Colorado’s past.

🌄 Scenic Overlooks

Throughout the loop, we stopped at several overlooks with stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. These vantage points offered perfect opportunities to pause, take in the scenery, and snap a few photos. The mix of forest shade, open skies, and mountain backdrops made this trail especially rewarding.

🐾 Dog-Friendly Notes

Mount Falcon Park is generally dog-friendly on-leash, but some areas may have restrictions. Always check local guidelines before heading out with your pup. On this trip, Simba joined me and had a blast exploring the trail by my side.
