🌊🏞️ Hiking the Iconic Doughboy’s Loop & North Country Trail – Copper Falls State Park, WI (Pup-Free Adventure!)
While Simba the Adventure Pup had to stay behind for this one (🐾❌ no dogs allowed on this trail), I ventured solo into one of Wisconsin’s most breathtaking hikes — the Doughboy’s Nature Trail and North Country Scenic Trail segment at Copper Falls State Park in Mellen, Wisconsin.
This 1.7-mile loop packs in massive waterfalls, dramatic lava rock canyons, and photogenic footbridges — all wrapped in the peaceful sound of rushing water and rustling trees. If you're hiking sans pup, this one's a must-see Midwest gem.

📝 Why Hike It (Even Without Your Pup)
While it’s a bummer that dogs aren’t allowed on this loop, it’s easy to see why — the narrow paths, stairs, and sensitive natural areas need protection. That said, it’s absolutely worth a solo stroll if you’re traveling with a pup and can alternate trail time.
💡 Pro Tip: Go early to beat the crowds and enjoy the peaceful roar of the falls with no distractions.
🚐 Part of Life on Paws and Wheels
Even when Simba can’t join me on trail, I’m still chasing views, waterfalls, and natural wonders as part of our full-time RV life. This stop was a reminder that sometimes, solo hikes offer space for deeper reflection and connection with nature.
