Relaxing at Table Rock State Park Campground with Simba the Adventure Pup!

Hey friends! Ash here from Life on Paws and Wheels, and today I’m sharing one of our favorite campground stays yet — Table Rock State Park Campground in Pickens, South Carolina!

Simba (my golden retriever and full-time road buddy) and I spent a few peaceful days here, tucked at the base of Table Rock Mountain, surrounded by forest, fresh air, and easy access to some of the best hiking trails and waterfalls in the Carolinas. If you’re an RV traveler, hiker, or nature-loving dog parent, this campground is an absolute must-visit.

🏕 About Table Rock State Park Campground

Table Rock State Park is known for its dramatic mountain backdrop, lush forest, and gorgeous hiking trails — including the famous Table Rock Trail and Carrick Creek Trail.

The campground itself offers:

✔️ Picnic tables + fire rings at each site
✔️ Easy access to hiking trails + the lake
✔️ Quiet, peaceful vibes perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure

✔️ Spacious, shady sites — Simba loved lounging outside the RV and watching the squirrels.
✔️ Dog-friendly trails nearby — we explored several short loops and waterfall trails right from the campground.
✔️ Peaceful campground atmosphere — perfect for pups who enjoy some calm downtime between hikes.
✔️ Lots of nature smells! — Simba’s nose was working overtime with all the fresh forest scents.

🚐 RV Traveler Tips

  • Book early — this is a popular campground, especially in fall when the leaves change.
  • Bring your hiking gear — there are trailheads right inside the park!
  • Stock up before you arrive — while the park has a small visitor center, the nearest stores are a short drive away.
  • Follow campground rules — pets must be leashed, and you’ll want to clean up after your pup to keep this place beautiful for everyone.
